Powering Smiles and Imagination with Duracell

On Monday, December 19, Brampton, Ont. singer Alessia Cara stopped by Children’s Miracle Network member hospital SickKids to spread smiles and Christmas cheer on behalf of Duracell.

She sang her hit Scars to Your Beautiful as well as some Christmas carols, and shared some inspirational words with patients in the hospital. A former SickKids patient herself, Alessia knows what it’s like to be a fighter. She spent a few hours with the children at the hospital, taking photos and listening to their stories.

Alessia partnered with Duracell, who donated $180,000 to SickKids in her name, to promote their Powering Smiles campaign. Duracell, in partnership with Hasbro, also delivered a shipment of toys for children who are spending their holidays in the hospital, along with the batteries to power them.

Duracell is celebrating 10 years of support for children’s hospitals, and over the month of December, any pack of Duracell batteries that are purchased in Walmart Canada stores will result in a donation to Children’s Miracle Network. It is their goal to raise $150,000 before December 31 for children’s hospitals across Canada.

Earlier in December, Duracell also celebrated the Powering Smiles campaign at Montreal Children’s Hospital, with another great event and toy delivery for the kids who will be spending their holiday season in hospital.
